Claiming unclaimed millions
Hundreds of millions of pounds lying dormant in high street bank accounts will be given to charitable causes unless the rightful owners claim their dues.
Here’s how to stake your claim if some of this money does belong to you:
- The Unclaimed Assets Register – for £18 per search this facility will check its register of life policies, pension plans, unit trust holdings and share dividends. www.uar.co.uk
- Check out old insurance policies held with a company that no longer exists by visiting The Association of British Insurers’ website at www.abi.org.uk
- Claim forms for dormant accounts can be obtained online at www.bba.org.uk the site of the British Bankers’ Association.
- Lost premium bonds or unclaimed prizes can be confirmed online at www.nsandi.com
- For unit and investment trusts, contact the Investment Management Association at www.investmentuk.org
